I knew there could be some reason for excitement in the run-in apart from guessing who wins the annual prizes at CAFCPICKS.
The race that we should try to win is the one to avoid being London’s bottom club in the Football League.
If, quite rightly, you eliminate the outer fringe location teams that were never historically part of London (I.E. Barnet, D & R, Southend, and even Gillingham from deepest Kent) then we have a real risk this season of finishing bottom. The prize always used to be won regularly by others, including Millwall.
The challenge is to move above Brentford and Leyton Orient.
Years ago it would have been shameful to consider that we could finish below both of these teams.

There is a fair chance that we will avoid the ignominy of bottom place by pipping Brentford on goal difference, though it would be nice to think it will not depend on that.

- A south east London boy, attending school in Deptford which had a 50/50 CAFC/ Millwall fan base (I chose the right team!). First Valley appearance in 1958 versus Notts County in penultimate game of the season. Next up was the last game against Blackburn and amongst 30,000 on the old East terrace in a crowd of around 56,435 willing a win to return immediately to the old First Division. We failed, and it took over 30 years to return and let me see football at the top flight. Now fighting for our lives back at the Valley, cheered on by me, my CAFCPICKS stalwarts and other old mates from Old Addeyans and the distant past. Now on the right track to rewarding our faithful fans with top flight football.

Looking at CAFC picks, I see you are lurging in 2nd place and also on course for the anual points total prize.
Like the National, you might pip Major Ken at the post. Best of luck
At least there is a chance of piping Major Ken, at our age we are b oth as slow as each other!
Of course, the fleet footed and more youthful Steve B, Angela R, JJ and NYA are not far behind and may have more stamina that Major K and yours truly.
